The Walter Eberhard Schroeder Dermatology Research Scholarship (USyd RTP Rate for 3.5 years) is a distinguished award created to promote innovative research in dermatology, with a particular focus on advancing knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases. Among the category of skin disorders, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) represents an area of high priority.

This scholarship is awarded to help support postgraduate research students on the basis of academic merit, proposed research design, and previous research experience. By empowering researchers, the Walter Eberhard Schroeder Dermatology Research Scholarship not only allows the advancement of dermatological sciences but, in this case, also progresses research in EB.

We are delighted to share that Jasmine Zhou, Ph.D. student at Nepean Clinical School, University of Sydney, has been awarded this prestigious scholarship, and will be investigating potential biomarkers in squamous cell carcinoma with a particular focus on at-risk patients, such as those living with EB. Her research aims to develop novel diagnostic approaches that can promote early detection and improved clinical outcomes.

DEBRA Australia looks forward to following the progress of this research project over the next few years.
