Our Butterfly Breaks program allows for our EB community to have a much needed break
DEBRA Australia are now offering families living with EB, couples or individuals an escape for some much-needed time away. ‘Butterfly Breaks’ will provide an opportunity to have quality time together, respite and relaxation, as well as a much-needed break from hospitals, medical clinics and appointments.
EB families will have the choice to select their preferred destination of travel and the Family Support Coordinator can assist the family with accessing suitable accommodation in that chosen area. Funding will primarily support accommodation expenses for 5 – 7 days. Surplus funds (if any) / to the value of a $300 gift card will contribute towards, travel expenses and/or meals for the family.
Applications will close on July 31 and applicants will be notified by August 26. Successful applicants are required to take travel prior to June 30, 2023. Please read the Butterfly Break criteria here before submitting an application.

The Steven’s Family’s Butterfly Break
After a difficult two years of restrictions and border closures due to the pandemic, DEBRA were fortunate enough to grant seven lucky families some much needed respite.
One of these was the Steven’s family, who recently holidayed in Dubbo, NSW and stayed at the “Zoofari Lodge”. Their “Butterfly Break” was an unforgettable experience and Wrance hasn’t stopped talking about his adventure and stay with the animals.
