The most recent recipient of the Carmel Harris Follow Your Dreams Grant was Ruby. Here she recounts her incredible experience at Jamala Wildlife Lodge where her ‘wildest’ dream came true!
“This year I was lucky enough to receive the Carmel Harris Follow Your Dreams Grant.
With this opportunity, I was able to visit Jamala Wildlife Lodge at the Canberra Zoo, where I stayed in the Giraffe Treehouses. This was such a magical experience. Being up close and personal with the giraffes 24/7 is truly something I will never forget.
From this experience, my love for giraffes has only grown. They are such majestic animals, and being able to be beside them and share their space was absolutely incredible. My favourite part was having my morning coffee on the balcony while watching the giraffes start their day.
The experience that Jamala Wildlife Lodge provides is truly one of a kind. From the delicious banquet meals, to the personal tours of the zoo, the incredible animal encounters, and the superb customer service from every staff member, everything exceeded my expectations. I felt so welcomed and cared for throughout my stay.
Thank you to Jamala Wildlife Lodge for helping make this experience so special and unforgettable. A huge thank you to Carmel Harris and her family for providing this grant, allowing people with EB to have these amazing opportunities and create lifelong memories.
