Thank you to our generous donors Orla and Michael, who gifted a holiday over Christmas, allowing EB mum Beck and her son Judd to enjoy an island getaway for the week. After the holiday, Beck was keen to share their appreciation:
“My son, Judd, and I were unexpectedly gifted a beautiful surprise holiday to Hamilton Island in December by a wonderful couple, who had to cancel their holiday at the last minute.
We stayed in an amazing, spacious apartment for the week and beetled about the island in our own personal golf buggy (there were lots of giggles especially getting lost in torrential rain!). There was a pool at the apartment and Judd spent lots of hours practicing his swimming. By the end of the week he was swimming unassisted across the pool! There were often other kids at the pool and it was beautiful to see them include Judd in their games.
Judd said that his favourite thing about the holiday was going to the restaurant where kids eat free. (It may have something to do with the lollies in the dessert buffet!) I loved seeing the animals at the wildlife sanctuary. There were lots of cheeky cockatoos at the apartment. If you left the door open, they would go in and steal your lunch!
There was not a lot of sunshine while we were there but we felt completely relaxed by the end of the week. Judd and I were so needing a break from our farm so this was a perfect surprise to get away and make memories. Thank you DEBRA Australia and everyone involved in making this happen. We are truly grateful. ”
