Bright Family Retreat

We understand that living with EB can present daily challenges such as frequent hospital visits, intensive medical care regimes, and emotional strain on the whole family.

To help further support our community through their journey in living with EB, we are proud to announce a new Family Support Program initiative, the Bright Family Retreat.

This home, which has kindly been made available to DEBRA Australia by generous donors, offers a place where families can take a much-needed break from the demands of the daily routines, and spend some essential quality time with their loved ones.

Set to launch in late May 2025, the Bright Family Retreat is dedicated to prioritising support for EB families. Bookings will also be available to other eligible guests from our EB community, such as health professionals, support workers, and allied health specialist dedicated to EB care.

This beautiful home is being offered free of charge (minus travel expenses), however there will be a service and levy fee of $600 per stay for EB Professionals other eligible guests.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Bright in country Victoria, renowned for its tranquil natural beauty, the Bright Family Retreat is conveniently located within walking distance of the town centre, making it the perfect setting for families to unwind, recharge, and enjoy some much-needed rest and recreation.

This air-conditioned home offers a safe, comfortable space for families to create positive memories together and to take a much-needed break to restore their wellbeing.

Two lounges allow for families to spread out, relax and enjoy the extra space. It offers all the mod cons, including ducted heating and cooling, a full kitchen, full-size bath, quality mattresses, and more.

The home comfortably sleeps up to 10 people, allowing EB families to accommodate their carers, support workers and extended family members if required. Plus, the home can accommodate two EB families at the same time, allowing a chance to connect and to build strong support relationships.

• Bookings are subject to availability, with priority given to EB families.
• Travel expenses to and from the accommodation are not covered by DEBRA Australia; however, if you do require assistance with travel costs, please provide details in the registration form, as requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis. 
• Families are welcome to access the retreat twice annually – each stay has a minimum of 2 nights / 3 days and maximum of 6 days / 7 nights. Special consideration for extended stay will be given to families who live under extreme circumstances and distances.
• Bookings cannot be made across Victorian school holidays and public holidays / long weekends.
• Accommodation is free of charge (minus travel expenses). However, health professionals and other eligible guests will be required to pay a cleaning and service fee of $600 per stay.
• All EB families, medical professionals and aligned eligible guests who access the Bright Retreat must be members of DEBRA Australia. A membership link will be emailed for the family to complete during the booking process.
• Pets are not permitted on this property.
