Gold Coast Marathon Fundraiser 2010

“For many it was their first half or full marathon but all would agree that it was an amazing experience to participate in the Gold Coast Marathon to raise funds for the Debra foundation!

 Our inspiration? Eliza Baird, a courageous 10 year old who not only motivates all of us with her strength of character and infectious smile, but also designed the T-shirts we all wore on the weekend.

When all were about to hit the dreaded wall, either at 18km in the half or 35 km in the marathon, we thought of the many challenges faced everyday by Eliza, her family and many other children with EB.

The weather was perfect for the race, there was no wind and thankfully the courses were very flat! In all 13 of us competed raising almost $9000 for the foundation. We thank everyone for supporting us and look forward to raising more funds for Debra in 2011. All we need to do now is think of the CHALLENGE!”
