EB Awareness Event – October, 2010
The weather wasn’t too kind to us on the day that I held my afternoon tea for Butterfly Day, and an array of wet umbrellas covered my front veranda. Members travelled from Adelaide to attend and help me out on the day. Other guests included red hatter ladies (these are a group of ladies whom describe themselves as growing old disgracefully), Kate’s art group, neighbours and a few close friends.
There was plenty of great food to eat, especially Laraine’s famous chocolate cake. My home made vanilla slice was a treat too. Guests were officially welcomed by Victor Harbor’s Deputy Mayor, Pat Chigwidden, who also drew the raffle for the signed cricket bat and the butterfly port. Both winners were from Queensland. Fay Grant won the cricket bat and our national secretary’s children won the port. The port has been donated back to us, to re- use as a prize on another occasion.
A total of $300.00 was raised on the day which went to the Debra Australia. The total tally from the raffle was $2000 and along with a donation of $1000 from the Richmond Lions Club we were able to donate this to the research team at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide. Kate presented a cheque to Zlatko Kopecki on the day.

We would also like to thank Kim Doecke and Kate’s art friend, Sue for the donations of prizes which were used for lucky door prizes.
