Joshua Gibson 12.1.2002 – 2.11.2010
Josh came to us back in January 2002. He was ‘unofficially’ diagnosed with EB within hours of his birth. This was later confirmed about 6 weeks later as having the Recessive Dystrophic form.
Despite us learning how to deal with all that EB encompassed, Josh was such a bright & alert baby, he was such a delight.
In his short life he attended playgroup, pre-school and later our local school.
Josh had an amazing little personality with an infectious laugh. He seemed wise beyond his years with the ‘one liners’ he would come out with, such great humour.
He was also very social. He loved getting together with family & hanging out with his cousins and his many Aunts & Uncles. Whenever I had a presentation to attend for DebRA, he always wanted to go & talk about his EB, he was so comfortable doing this. Only last year, he went around to each & every class at his school and gave them the talk about EB on their ‘Butterfly Day’.
Josh passed away in November, aged 8, from pneumonia/cardiac failure surrounded by us (his parents), Grand parents and his Aunts & Uncles. We will all miss you Josh, your smile, all your loving, your personality and your touch.
